Chong Garden: Authentic Chinese Cuisine in Louisville, KY

Have been eating there for over 30 years, since I was a kid. Food has always been top notch. Simply the best Chinese food in Louisville, tied with max orient in the mall. Far better than PF Chang's. But I do have a complaint. All those years and I never got a single bad egg roll. But for the last 3 1/2 years. Every single egg roll has been very very bad one. Not really understanding why, but it has been 100% of all purchased egg rolls in about 6 or 7 visits, in 3 1/2 years. They are so dry and chewy at the same time. Always overcooked and not never perfectly browned. They used to be full of juice in every bite, and perfectly crisp. I would do anything for just one more of that classic chong garden egg roll perfection of the past. All other food, especially the crab Rangoon is always spot on each and every time. I just can't understand, what happened with the egg rolls. I keep holding out hope but it's starting to feel that I may never have that perfect chong garden veggie egg roll again. Which is extremely disheartening to even think about. Please get a new egg roll cook. It just isn't the same when you can't enjoy that perfect egg roll with your meal

Food was really good, large size portions with plenty of flavor. They have fountain, canned and bottle drinks. Takes a little extra time to cook the war su gai but it was worth the weight. There are only a few tables for dining in, most of their business comes from carryout.

Food is always delicious. The service is never great. But it good enought for carry out I guess. I would never eat in the lobby.

The food I've tried has been excellent (light, not heavy and bloated). Service is phenomenal, food is affordable and well seasoned & hot.

Old fashioned fast food chinese, with old fashioned prices. Delicious generous portions. My meal was under $11 & was very satisfying. Combination dinners include main course, rice, egg roll, fortune cookies & free drink. Just incredible!!!

We just moved to the area (all though I grew up in valley station) and we needed a new designated Chinese food place. You know, the default that everyone in the family knows what you mean when you say your getting Chinese for dinner... well, this be the one yall!! The food is amazing!! Try the happy family, it's bomb!!! Also, the price is amazing!! We just got dinner for four with 40$ including tip.... the icing on the cake for me is that it's family owned and run, I love knowing we are supporting a local business and family.. ten out of ten recommended!!

The sesame chicken combo is amazing because they fry with veggies and add them to the combination. Even though I don’t eat the veggies, it gives the sesame chicken a lot of favor. The rice is a little crunchy but the egg rolls are the best eggs I’ve tasted in Louisville, KY so far. They also cook the meal after you place the order so it’s really hot and tastes fresh. Two visits and Imma take my mom so I recommend it even though I miss Chicago’s beef fried rice.

I love crab rangoon! This restaurant has the absolute best crab rangoon! Instead of the rappers being folded in half like triangles they're actually folded in quarters similar to a coin purse. This allows the rapper to hold much more filling! I have tried many other Chinese restaurants crab rangoon and nothing compares to Chong Garden! There is actually a Chinese restaurant a mile from my house and I will drive the 6 miles to Chong Garden to get their crab rangoon instead! Just once make the trip there and you will forever go back there for your crab rangoon I promise!
